In 2018, the Tasmanian Government committed to provide the community with 180 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 financial years. This initiative will provide more people with access to potentially life-saving intervention in the event of a cardiac event.

This initiative is being administered by Ambulance Tasmania. Applications are now open and will close at 5:00 pm on Monday, 5 November 2018.

This will be an opportunity for individuals, community organisations and not-for-profit organisations to register their interest in obtaining a Government funded AED through the Community Defibrillator Fund program. The Application Form is available on the Community Defibrillator Fund webpage

Applications will be reviewed and assessed against criteria, which include the proposed location and accessibility of the defibrillator, the ability of the applicant to maintain it, the defibrillator being registered, and the applicant’s willingness to respond as part of Ambulance Tasmania’s Early Access to Defibrillation Program.

The submission criteria is available on the Community Defibrillator Fund webpage

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their submission by the end of 2018, with the distribution of AEDs, to commence shortly after.
